nolli model experiment - failure


As can be seen from the photo (above) the cast of the public spaces in the MacCormac Spitalfield's scheme, at this scale was simply to delicate to be successful in plaster. When the form work of the model was removed the plaster cracked in several places.

However once pieced together the model does give an excellent example of how the scheme works volumetrically. To the edges of the block the height of public spaces remains comparable to the existing surroundings and the public spaces only begin to rise towards the core of the block.
